Strathroy Adds Experience
Jets sign well-known former NHL player
The Strathroy Jets have announced one of the most high-profile signings in the history of the Northern Premier Hockey League.
Former London Knight Brandon Prust has committed to play for the Strathroy Jets during the 2025-26 season. The London native played nearly 500 games in the National Hockey League for the Calgary Flames, New York Rangers, Montreal Canadiens and Vancouver Canucks.
The tough forward ended his professional career in Germany and won a Memorial Cup with the London Knights in 2005. He most recently was the head coach of the London Nationals of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League.
NPHL President and Co-owner Josh Rowlands said the signing solidifies the league’s position as a place where high-quality hockey players want to play.
“The league is growing and improving and I’m confident Brandon won’t be the last elite player to sign with one of our teams this season. It’s an exciting time for the NHPL and we encourage other quality players to reach out to any of our teams.”
The signing follows the recent news of two more teams joining the league’s Metropolitan Division, the Stratford Fighting Irish and Orangeville Blitz, bringing the number of teams to seven. The Capital Division has a total of 18 teams across the East and West Conferences.
“Adding two teams of this caliber to what is already shaping up to be a very high quality of hockey, this is exactly the vision my partner and I had coming out of last season. The NPHL will continue to soar to new heights built on a strong vision and a high level of professionalism,” said Rowlands.
