The Northern Premier Hockey League (NPHL) Metropolitan Division has expanded with the addition of two formidable franchises: the Orangeville Blitz and the Stratford Fighting Irish. These teams bring a wealth of talent and ambition, further elevating the league's competitive landscape.

Orangeville Blitz

The Orangeville Blitz are set to make their mark in the NPHL, transitioning from the Ontario Super Hockey League  to the NPHL Metropolitan Division. Founded in 2021, the Blitz have quickly become a powerhouse in Ontario's senior hockey scene. Under new ownership, the team is poised for significant growth and success.

Stratford Fighting Irish

The Stratford Fighting Irish, formerly part of the Ontario Super Hockey League, have joined the NPHL Metropolitan Division, bringing a rich history and championship pedigree. Based in Stratford, Ontario, the team plays at the historic William Allman Memorial Arena, a venue with deep ties to Canadian hockey. Coming off of a championship season in their previous league, the Irish look to maintain their hold heading into this year.

League President's Vision for Expansion

NPHL President and Co-owner, Josh Rowlands, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion:

"Adding two teams of this caliber to what is already shaping up to be a very high quality of hockey, this is exactly the vision my partner and I had coming out of last season. The NPHL will continue to soar to new heights built on a strong vision and high level of professionalism."

This expansion underscores the NPHL's commitment to growth and excellence, enhancing its reputation as a premier hockey league in Ontario.

Strengthening the NPHL Brand Across Ontario

The inclusion of the Orangeville Blitz and Stratford Fighting Irish solidifies the NPHL's presence from the capital region to the west of Toronto. These teams not only bolster the league's competitive balance but also expand its fan base and community engagement. As the league continues to grow, the addition of these franchises marks a significant step toward establishing the NPHL as a dominant force in Ontario's hockey landscape.
